Preschoolers Celebrate Read Across America Day With More than 45 Million Readers Nationwide
Festivities Include Local Guest Readers, Dr. Seuss Hats and Green Eggs and Toast
What: In honor of the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, more than 130 children at the Primrose School of Dunwoody will celebrate literacy with more than 45 million readers nationwide. The preschoolers, ranging in age from 1 to 5 years old, will wear handmade Dr. Seuss hats and enjoy green eggs and toast. Additionally, the children will wrap up their month-long book drive to make a large donation to the local Reach Out and Read chapter, a non-profit committed to promoting literacy through pediatric primary care.
Read Across America Day is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on or around Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
Who: Dunwoody Mayor Pro Tem, Denny Shortal, along with Dunwoody Library Children’s Librarian, Jessica Osborne and Rob Sayer from The Music Class will be guest readers at the event and will talk to the children about the importance of literacy and what it means to them in their careers and lives.
Interviews can be arranged during the celebration on March 2 with guest readers, the school representative, children and parents attending.
