The return of the Butterfly Festival ~ August 18th

On Saturday, August 18th from 10:00 – 3:00, the Dunwoody Nature Center will be bringing the butterflies back to Dunwoody. The annual Butterfly Festival will feature games, crafts, and discovery stations throughout the park as well as the biggest attraction of all, a butterfly tent filled with hundreds of butterflies. Walk amongst these delicate beauties and get an up-close look at nature as they feed on nectar producing plants and fruits. Take the nature scavenger hunt and find hidden treasures within Dunwoody Park, get your face painted like a butterfly, and enjoy live music, stories, and animal encounters throughout the day. On-site concessions will make sure that our guests stay well-fed and our signature “larval lemonade” will keep everyone happy and cool during the day. To make this a more affordable family event, admission prices has been reduced this year to $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12, and free to children ages 3 and under. Annually, the Butterfly Festival is the largest event at the Nature Center with an expected crowd of 1,500 attendees. Off-site shuttle service will be regularly available throughout the day and staggered, timed entry to the butterfly tent will keep lines moving. This year’s festival will also feature early admission (beginning at 9:00 a.m.) for members only.
