Antlers Up! Brookhaven Bucks Set for Postseason

(Brookhaven, GA) With a 14-11 record, the Brookhaven Bucks have secured second place in the Sunbelt Baseball League East Division. The Bucks will host the Gwinnett Tides (12-13), who finished in third place in the division, on Monday, July 24th at Oglethorpe University in a one game wild card playoff. First pitch will be at 7:00 p.m.

The Bucks have one of the best pitching staffs in the Sunbelt League. Starting pitchers Tyler Elwer (Sr./Georgia State) [2-1, 1.42 ERA in 19 innings], Jake Brace (Fr./Georgia Tech) [3-3, 1.70 ERA in 42.1 innings] and Bryan White (Sr./Georgia State) [2-1, 2.80 ERA in 25.2 innings] have been a big reason for the Bucks success.

Dylan Biumi (Sr./Western Carolina) [0-0, 1.45 ERA in 12.1 innings], Austin Weiermiller (Fr./Stanford) [1-0, 4 saves, 0.00 ERA in 7.1 innings], and Sandy Springs native, Ed Voyles (Sr./Florida State) [1-0, 0.00 ERA in 8 innings] have provided solid relief pitching from the bullpen.

The Bucks offense has been led by OF Connor Stutts (Jr./Alabama) [.333 with 4 doubles, 3 triples and 10 runs scored], IF Blake Crossing (So./Dartmouth) [.333 with 6 RBI], IF Daino Deas (So./Northwest Florida State) [.329 with 4 doubles, 8 RBI and 11 runs], IF/OF Dalton Light (Jr./Richmond) [.282 with 1 HR, 1 triple and 10 runs scored], and IF/OF Xzavion Curry (So./Georgia Tech) [.275 with 2 HR, 6 RBI and 10 runs scored].

For Monday’s playoff game, the Bucks are giving free admission to kids who are 12 years old and under. Admission for the game at Oglethorpe University’s Hermance Stadium is $5. The gates will open at 6:00 p.m. for Monday’s game.

The Brookhaven Bucks are members of the Sunbelt Baseball League, a summer collegiate wooden-bat league with teams in Georgia (Alpharetta, Brookhaven, Carrollton, Norcross, Lawrenceville, Suwanee and Waleska) and Alabama (Phenix City). Bucks home games are played at Oglethorpe University. The Sunbelt League season started on June 2nd and will end with league playoffs July 24th-August 1st.
