Note from Audra:  Christy Holloway is the third of my trio of Dunwoody High School Juniors to provide us with a Junior Book Review.  Christy along with Abby Chambless started the ‘DHS Bookclub’ this year.   When Christy told me about it I immediately asked her if she and Abby would be willing to write about some of their fave choices from their book club reading this year.  The girls thankfully said yes and here’s the second review from this dynamic duo about their October DHS Book Club choice……

In October, Dunwoody High School’s book club chose to read Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake for our book of the month. We want to expand our scope of reading, so we decided to have a theme for some months. Because October was the month of Halloween, we saw it fitting to read a book from the horror genre. Although the title makes it seem like it would be an eerie book, it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be,  but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great book. The main character Theseus Cassio Lowood, also known as Cas, hunts and kills ghosts. Cas’s father spent his life ghost hunting and died while doing it. After his father’s death, Cas made it his mission to revenge his father by killing the ghost who murdered him. He moves all across the country to hunt ghosts in order to prepare him for when he finds the ghost who killed his father. Everything was a routine for Cas, move to a new town, find a ghost, and kill it. Until Cas moves to a small town in Canada and meets Anna. Anna is a girl who was killed in 1958 and has been terrorizing anyone who comes near her house for over 60 years. When Cas and Anna meet, the series of events that follow change both of their lives (dead and living) forever. Cas must then decide between following in his father’s footsteps or helping save Anna.  The Dunwoody High Book Club rated this book a 5/5 because of it’s page turning mystery and magic. The description and exploration of the world of the undead in this book makes it an incredibly exciting read.
