Book of the Week: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Milk and Honey was on my Kindle and I’m not even sure how it got there.  I don’t remember ordering but I’m guessing it was on sale one day and I just downloaded it on impulse. I ran across it  when sitting at Brook Run Park waiting on my son to finish helping the football team set up for Lemonade Days.   When I noticed the average time to read was about an hour I thought “why not give it a try?”   I finished it before the Wildcats set up Lemonade days!

It’s a NY Times #1 Bestseller written by Canadian, Rupi Kaur who is also an artist and a spoken word performer.   It  is a poetry collection divided into four chapters (Hurting, Loving, Breaking, Healing).   The first chapter and accompanying sketches were disturbing but the content lightened up (somewhat) by the end.   I’m normally not much for poetry but her beautifully honest poems are easy to read and relatable to many women I’m sure.  Apparently the author is an Instagram sensation so I just followed her.

Following are two of my fave poems from the book:
