Book of the Week: Tell the Wolves I’m Home

I have so many books on my “to read” list and this one finally made it to the top of the list.  I heard about it several years ago and I’m sad I didn’t take the time to read it sooner.  This is one that I went back and forth between listening and reading….Kindle/Audible.   I had to listen/read whenever I could find even 5 minutes!  It isn’t really suspenseful…just a great story with a wonderful main character.

I love June Elbus.  She’s a delightful teenager growing up during the eighties.  My Mom’s name is June so I liked this girl from the moment I read her name.  She’s quirky, odd, insightful, passionate, brave, daring, responsible, young, and full of love.

I loved June’s dazzling narrative and miss her already.   The book deals with favorite uncles, misunderstood siblings, AIDs in the 80’s, one of my fave cities, and the art world.

The novel, first published in 2012 appears to be the first and only novel by Carol Rifka Brunt.  I certainly hope she publishes another!
