Act3 Productions Presents Clybourne Park September 15 – 30

Sandy Springs, GA – Act3 Productions presents Clybourne Park September 15 through 30 at Act3 Playhouse in Sandy Springs Plaza, 6285-R Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Clybourne Park is an award winning razor-sharp satire that takes a jab at race and real estate in a fictional Chicago neighborhood. The play begins in a white enclave in 1959, and then returns in 2009 as gentrification sets in. Tickets are $15-$23 and may be purchased at www.act3productions.org.

At the heart of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a house. Act one is set in 1959. Following a family tragedy, a white couple is selling their home in a suburban Chicago neighborhood, and their neighbors are dismayed to learn the buyers are African-American.

In act two, the same house is again being sold. But now, in 2009, a white couple is purchasing the home from an African-American couple, and they butt heads over showing respect for a neighborhood that has become largely African-American.

These two racially charged transactions tell the story of a home and a neighborhood, as well as the sense of history and entitlement people hang on to, even in the ever-shifting physical boundaries of the American cultural landscape.

One agile ensemble of actors play two sets of characters in the play The Washington Post deemed “one of its feistiest, funniest evenings in years.”

The performance schedule is: September 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30 at 8 p.m. A Sunday matinee is offered September 17 and 24 at 3 pm. Group rates are available by calling 770-241-1905.
