Ponce City Market – Audra’s Review

Ponce City Market (3 of 11)According to the app WAZE, Ponce City Market is 17 miles from my Dunwoody home and currently 27 minutes away.   It took us a bit longer to get there last Saturday during this busy shopping season.  I drove my parents there because I knew my Dad would love the history of the old Sears & Robuck building and would also more than likely find plenty of great photo opportunities.  Plus in early 2014, Travel + Leisure ranked Ponce City Market as one of the 25 in its list of “The World’s Coolest New Tourist Attractions.”  We were not disappointed.

Ponce City Market (5 of 11)My Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the only Alex and Ani retail store we’d ever seen.  I love their very affordable unique bracelets.   The Frye Company Store was another of our favorites.  Frye employees were passing out yummy holiday beverages and had a very talented bluegrass band playing holiday tunes at the store entrance.  I had to leave behind a beautiful leather purse I was coveting…unfortunately it wasn’t in my price range….

The Food HallPonce City Market (11 of 11) was unlike any food court I’ve ever experienced.   The hustle and bustle in the dining area was unparalleled.  We had to walk through several times just to get our bearings and come up with a plan of attack.  Hops Chicken and H&F Burger each had  lines about 50 people deep!   The boys ended up enjoying Cuban sandwiches from El Super Pan while the rest of us grabbed a miraculously empty table at Bellina.   My vegetable plate was delicious.

Just before leaving we noticed that the Atlanta Beltline has an entry way into the market.  It would definitely be fun to go back and take our bikes!   I spend most of my time in our wonderful Dunwoody/Sandy Springs/Brookhaven/Peachtree Corners communities but every now and then it is fun to venture a little further into town and enjoy the benefits of living in our wonderfully eclectic and metropolitan capital city!   Check out these gorgeous photos of Ponce City Market from my talented father!  All photo credits:  John W. p.s.  My husband reminded me that the parking is kind of tricky.  We parked underground.  There’s an app you can use to pay or you can choose how many hours you plan to be there and pay in advance.  Be prepared to study the parking process for a few minutes when you arrive.

  1. I LOVE El Super Pan! Great place to eat and great people! I saw that there will be a new place opening soon called Biltong Bar. It sounds fun and interesting!
