Mission Statement
Within a nurturing environment, grounded in Christian principles, we ensure the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of each child.

Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, year ‘round. We are closed for New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and certain other days specified by DCA from time to time. No discounts from tuition are made for holidays or other days on which the facility does not operate. We are also closed when Dekalb County Public Schools close due to inclement weather.

Meals and Snacks are provided for all children who eat table food, and are in attendance during the scheduled meal.

Our purpose is to provide a nurturing, state-of-the-art educational environment in which your child can learn, laugh, love, grow and succeed.

Our curriculum reflects the latest educational research, anchored in Christian values. DCA adheres to the standards of excellence set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Dunwoody Christian Academy offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum that provides for each child’s physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual growth.

Curriculum planning is based on each child’s special interests and developmental progress. Our Accelerated Learning Program provides for a wider range of developmental interests and abilities than the chronological age range of the group would suggest. Our teachers are prepared to meet the needs of children who exhibit unusual interests and skills outside the normal developmental range.

DCA uses the proven and effective Creative and ABEKA Curriculum as frameworks for our programs.

Christian values, Chapel Service, Prayer and Bible teachings are an integral part of each child’s Dunwoody Christian Academy experience.

Teachers provide a variety of activities and materials. They increase the difficulty, complexity, and challenge of an activity as children are involved with it and as children develop understanding and skills.

At Dunwoody Christian Academy children have opportunities to choose from a variety of activities, materials, and equipment; and time to explore through active involvement. Teachers facilitate children’s engagement with materials and activities and extend the child’s learning by asking questions or making suggestions that stimulate children’s thinking.

Dunwoody Christian Academy’s Accelerated Learning Program is all about offering children opportunities for greater growth and development, not about pushing them beyond their capabilities.

Dunwoody Christian Academy’s Educational Goals are about helping children:

• Become independent, responsible, and confident-ready for success in life.
• Learn to plan many of their own activities, carry them out, and talk with other children and adults about what they have done.
• Learn through active involvement with people, materials, events, and ideas.
• Gain knowledge and skills in important content areas such as art, language, reading, writing, math, history, geography, physical education, manners, social relations and Christian values.

Developmental assessments and observations are used to plan appropriate curriculum for all of the children. Regular meetings are held with parents to discuss each child’s development.

Parents have the unique opportunity to view their children from other locations via our internet webcam service.

At Dunwoody Christian Academy parents are encouraged to observe and participate in Academy activities. We support your parenting responsibilities with daily reports of your child’s activities and behavior, educational articles, workshops and parent meetings.

Uniforms: Dunwoody Christian Academy recognizes that clothes can inhibit or support a child’s learning progress. Therefore, uniforms are required for Pre-K & Kindergarten students, and optional for younger students.
