Join the staff of DNC counselors this summer for nature themed camps that mix fun and learning on the grounds of the beautiful 22 acres of Dunwoody Park. Explore the Piedmont habitat including the activity meadow, 2.5 miles of trails, wetlands and every camper’s favorite – Wildcat Creek. Each day will feature outdoor play with certified instructors and their team of junior counselors.
For 2012, the Dunwoody Nature Center will feature camps that include Music Mayhem; Mysteries; What’s Buggin’ You; Native Americans; Wa-ter You Know; Southern History; Earth Works; Circle of Life; Lizards, Frogs, and Snakes; What’s Up Trees; and Animal Adaptations.
The Nature Center arranges all camps by age group so that campers are placed with similar aged friends and also features a Mini Camp format that is a half-day long and is perfect for 3-4 year olds who are not quite ready for a full day of activities. Full day camps are offered for K-5th grades with early morning drop off and later afternoon pick up available for the convenience of working families. By popular demand, the Dunwoody Nature Center will again be hosting two summer camps for Junior Rangers at the Island Ford facility of the Chattahoochee River NRA; and, new this summer, a Wilderness Explorers camp for middle school aged campers at Brook Run Park that will feature outdoor survival and living skills including an overnight.
