AUDRA IN TUSCANY!

Yep, you guessed it!  Audra and her family have spent the last couple of days in beautiful Tuscany.  What is there not to love about Tuscany…the scenery, wine, charming villages, relaxing atmosphere, history and more wine!

One of the things I love most about a trip to Italy is the diverse experience you can create in one country.  Italy offers the northern alps, several coastal regions, cities and lots of countryside.  The Italian countryside offers many different villages to explore and you may even choose a hillside village as your place to sleep.  However, my recommendation for a countryside stay is a Tuscan farmhouse that surrounds you with rolling hills and colorful sunsets.   Audra has enjoyed both at a restored farmhouse located near some of the best wine towns in the region, Montepulciano and Montalcino. Yes, the land of the Brunello!

Besides relaxing at their farmhouse pool overlooking those rolling hills, they spent one day with a driver visiting a family-run vineyard and a couple of Tuscan villages.  This is an extremely enjoyable way to experience the countryside…no worries about parking, maneuvering narrow village roads or reading Italian road signs.  Everyone needs one day like this even if you have a rental car!  Yesterday was spent exploring Siena on their own, then back to the farmhouse ambience!

For you adventure lovers, don’t rule out Tuscany.  This region is not just for the wine enthusiasts!  The countryside has biking trails weaving between villages and the hikers will enjoy the Via Francigena, one of Europe’s most famous hiking trails.  Thermal hot springs, hot air ballooning, Vespas and truffle hunting are a few other adventurous options.

Audra and her family are off to their next stop!  I’ll give you a hint…there is great food, wine and scenery! Ha, that’s all of Italy!!! 🙂
