Audra and Peggy’s Visit to The Exercise Coach

by Audra H. Anders for The Aha! Connection

In case you have not noticed, Peggy and I are bound and determined to get fitter in 2021!  Last week, we took Marshall Millikan up on another great fitness opportunity by accepting his invitation to visit The Exercise Coach.  He promised us an amazing 20-minute workout.  TWENTY MINUTES?  Peggy and I were so curious about how we were going to get a good workout in such a short amount of time.

When we Google mapped the location, it appeared as if the fitness studio was INSIDE the Jett Ferry Kroger!  Rather, it is tucked in between Yogli Mogli and Jilli Boutique making it sooooo very close to my home.

Here’s the scoop.  The staff are highly trained and well educated.  Mine and Peggy’s trainers both have Master degrees!  Cameron’s in exercise physiology and Lindsey’s in Kinesiology.  The gym has no weights and uses machines only to train clients.  I am kind of a tech nerd so was FASCINATED by how these machines work.  Again, there are NO weights.  It is so cool.  Basically, the first time you use a machine you enter your unique code and then the trainer helps you set everything up.  After entering the code and taking a test for each exercise, the computer stores your abilities, tracks each session, and adjusts for you each time you get started.  When you are “live” during your workout, your goal is to stay within a green zone on the screen in front of you. I felt like I was playing a video game but getting a good workout out at the same time.  The machines work your entire body so you have arms, legs, shoulders, chest and some high intensity quick cardio options – they can change what you do each time, so it doesn’t become monotonous.  The machines, powered by “Exerbotics”, create a very joint-friendly workout which is amazing for me since I have arthritis issues.

It is also only supposed to take 20-minutes, two times a week.  I mean, who doesn’t have time for this?

Peggy and I were impressed with the Covid-friendly factor.  The trainers wore masks and we were required to wear them also unless we were doing a cardio machine and felt uncomfortable breathing.  There are strict limits for how many people can be in the gym at once and nobody can work on a machine directly beside someone else.  Also, everything is sanitized between use…Cameron and Lindsay were cleaning each machine as we finished and moved onto the next.

If you are looking for a quick and convenient way to get in shape The Exercise Coach could be a perfect fit for you.  The gym is very low key and quiet…. everything is appointment based.  They are offering everyone 2 sessions for free.  Keep in mind the first two sessions are a little longer than 20 minutes since you are setting everything up, familiarizing yourself with the machines AND doing a workout.  Pricing is offered in terms of “packs” of 20, 40 or 80 sessions OR group and/or individual monthly plans which all include a Nutrition Playbook.  I encourage you to check them out!  Be sure to stay tuned next week when The Exercise Coach offers a Giveaway to one lucky Aha! subscriber!
