Book of the Week: The Magnolia Story

I’m not one of those people who is addicted to HGTV.  Really, I’m not.  I’ve seen a handful of Fixer Upper episodes and I’m kinda fascinated by Tiny Houses after binge watching a few episodes with my Mom and my Aunt one day.   However, my Mom on the other hand, is ADDICTED to HGTV.

I’m currently in Alabama helping Mama recover from knee replacement surgery.  She had the spring edition of The Magnolia Journal magazine on the sofa and I picked it up and read it all in one sitting.  Partly because it really isn’t that thick but partly because there is something about Chip and Joanna Gaines that captivates me.  This entire edition of the magazine is dedicated to being “intentional”.  Jo talks about looking forward to more “white space” in her calendar during the coming months.   The reference to “white space” takes me back to an amazing Priscilla Shirer Bible study I once took entitled Breathe.  Chip has a two page article about “breaking up” with his smart phone.  It really got me thinking….

After reaching the back cover of the journal I remembered that one of my BFFs, Leigh….who knows me SO WELL, gave me The Magnolia Story in hardcover for my birthday last year.   I’m reading it as soon as I get back to Dunwoody!  Thanks Leigh!
