Books of the Week: Marriage Vacation & Younger

by Audra Anders for The Aha! Connection

Confession time….I’m hooked on the hit TV Series, Younger.  It isn’t my fault though.  I completely blame Ana Bilbao-Granadillo.  She’s an amazing Spanish teacher at Dunwoody High and we’ve both been told we look alike.  One day while discussing that we should pretend that she’s my YOUNGER sister, she starting raving about the TV Show, Younger.

It’s about Liza (41) who has a college aged daughter, is in the middle of a divorce from a cheating husband, and can’t find a job because she has been a stay at home mom and is now “old” with no work experience.   A young cute twenty something guy (Josh) mistakes her for a 26 year old so she decides to pretend to everyone that she’s in her twenties.  She gets her dream job at a huge book publisher in NYC…and that cutie pie, Josh, in the process.   But…the lie….it catches up to her one person at a time and it’s hard to decide if you want her to get caught or not!   I binge watched on Hulu until I caught up with the current episodes that air on Tuesday nights at 10 on TV Land.   Watch it if you like chick flick TV.

On to the books of the week…

One:  Younger, the TV show is based on a book by Pamela Redmond Satran.   I just learned this and am going to read it on my Kindle ASAP.

Two:  Marriage Vacation – Fans of the show Younger may be surprised that Marriage Vacation is a real book.   In the TV Show, Liza is approached by a new author who happens to be her boss’s estranged wife, Pauline.   Pauline disappeared leaving her handsome hubby and two young daughters and went on a “Marriage Vacation“.   I think fans of Younger will LOVE this book.   Would you ever even consider leaving your spouse and young children for an 11 month sabbatical?  Find out why she did it and if they take her back…..
