City of Dunwoody begins summer concert series at new amphitheater

Dunwoody’s “Groovin’ on the Green” series includes three free concerts at the new Brook Run Park Amphitheater.

Dunwoody, GA – June 8, 2021 – The City of Dunwoody Parks and Recreation Department announces the return of “Groovin’ on the Green,” a free summer concert series taking place in the new Brook Run Park Amphitheater. The first concert in the series will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 12.

“I’ve been looking forward to this since last summer. This is just the kind of thing our community had in mind when we planned and built the new amphitheater,” said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. “I’m anticipating big crowds, and I’m excited for the opportunity to gather, again.”

The Brook Run Park Amphitheater opened quietly last summer. Due to the pandemic, this concert will be the amphitheater’s kickoff event. The venue includes terraced seating, expanded levels of open space, restrooms and an upgraded pavilion. The amphitheater is conveniently located along the Dunwoody Trailway in Brook Run Park and offers easy access for those who want to walk or ride their bicycles to the event.

The first concert will feature the Josh Gilbert Band, a singer-songwriter and collective band with a Southern rock/pop, blues and Americana sound. The next two concerts will take place on July 10 and September 11. Featured bands for those concerts will be announced at a later date.

Those who want to spread out can bring a blanket and picnic dinner and enjoy the concert from the Great Lawn. Big Burgers & Wings and C- Bo’s Barbeque food trucks will be on site, along with Moondog Growlers selling beer and wine.
