City Winery February Books & Booze featuring ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ By James Baldwin

Literature enthusiasts are invited to turn the pages of James Baldwin’s captivating novel, If Beale Street Could Talk, during Posman Books and City Winery’s February Books & Booze on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Marc Stiles, Posman Book’s General Manager, will lead a riveting discussion among fellow avid readers about a heart-wrenching love story where passion and sadness are inevitably intertwined. Facing injustice, the story begins with Tish and Fonny being pledged to be married, but suddenly Fonny is falsely accused of a terrible crime and imprisoned. A novel that will be forever ingrained in the American psyche, the story will evoke emotions of affections, despair and hope as the families of Tish and Fonny set out to clear his name to reunite the young lovers. In addition to dynamic conversation, City Winery’s extensive wine, cocktail and craft beer collection will be offered, along with a special Literary Libation created by City Winery’s Beverage Director, JR Smith. Book lovers can also purchase this month’s book selection from Posman Books inside of Ponce City Market. The event starts at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.
