Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park will shine with 85,000 lights and a Candy Land theme throughout December.

Dunwoody, GA – November 9, 2022 – Dunwoody Parks and Recreation will bring Holiday Lights back to Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park in December with more lights and a new theme for the third annual celebration. Opening night festivities will take place on Dec. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch will flip the switch on the lights at 6 p.m.

“The holiday light display was created as a way to bring joy to our community during Covid,” said Mayor Deutsch. “The lights are so much fun to visit. I’m thrilled that we can continue to brighten the holiday season for residents and visitors alike – year after year.”

Holiday Lights is a brilliant, walk-thru display at Brook Run Park that’s free and open to all to enjoy. This year’s display will feature 85,000 lights (10,000 more than last year) that will shine nightly in the park through Dec. 31. The theme is Candy Land with light displays shaped like ice cream cones, ice cream bars, and milkshakes, plus a life-sized ice cream truck with room to walk inside to take a photo looking out the window.

The Mega Tree will return with animated lights synched to holiday music. The design also features lights in the shape of a chocolate volcano cake, gumball machine, castle, and giant glow balls. Opening night festivities will include free hot cocoa, candy, and character photo-ops beginning at 4 p.m.

In addition to lights, Dunwoody Parks & Recreation will also mark the season with two letter campaigns.

  1. Letters to Seniors: Send a little holiday cheer to those in isolation or just needing extra love this season. Letters collected at the N. Shallowford Annex (4770 N. Shallowford Road) and Spruill Arts Center (5339 Chamblee Dunwoody) will be distributed to Dunwoody assisted living communities for their residents to open and enjoy. Look for the festive mailbox starting Dec. 1. Letters will be accepted until noon on Dec. 21.
  2. Letters to Santa: Children can send messages and pictures to Santa by emailing Santa.Claus@dunwoodyga.gov. Santa will respond with a personalized, mailed letter all the way from the North Pole. Please include the child’s name, return mailing address and any special instructions in the email. Messages will be accepted from Dec. 1 until Dec. 16. Letters will be responses only. No gifts will be sent.
