The Dunwoody High School Lady Wildcats are burning up the track and field placing THIRD in the 6A Region 7 Championships at Alpharetta High School on April 22nd and 24th.  The Lady Wildcats took the region by surprise with a strong overall performance from each athlete.

The Lady Wildcats were undeniable in their 1st day of Field events. Jahvene Walder High Jumped into 1st place with her team mate Andrea Penzien not too far behind in 3rd place. Anna Mothner and Ainsley Jones would run hard and long in very hot temps. Their endurance and dedication would pay off placing 9th and 10th amidst a very fast field.

The team would continue the day of preliminaries advancing 2 for 2 in most of the key races that would have finals on the 24th.   The finals would only advance the top eight in each race. However, Yasmine Harrington in the 100M, Ainsley Jones in the 1600M,  Chassidy Robinson in the 400 M and both Farra Lingo and Yasmin Harrington in the 200M would all race hard in the first day of competition.

During the 2nd day of Regional Championships, the DHS field event athletes would again prove to be ready to compete as Ariel Lawrence placed 1st in the Long Jump and  Kameran Haliday placed 10th. Janae Profit would again break the school record and place 1st in the Shot Put. Fellow Thrower Teammate Zaria Woodyard would place 4th.

The 4X100 Teams would run with all of their heart and leave it all on the track.  The First Team of Kameren Haliday, Jaden Alexis, Jahvene Walder and Ariel Lawrence would eat up the competition and place 1st.  Chassidy Robinson, Yasmin Harrington, Libra Paredes and Cierra Wesby would be another force to be reckoned with placing 8th and adding to the team’s total points.

The Sprinters would continue to add points to the Lady Wildcats. Farro Lingo would place 7th in the 100 Meter Finals. Jaden Alexis would bring it home and  place 5th in the 400 M race.

The Mid to Long Distance Runners would continue the point streak earnings with 800 Meter Runner Emma Tessler placing 5th. Anna Mothner would place 5th and Lucy Neuman would place 8th in a grueling 3200 Meter run as the heat just wouldn’t let up.
