Dunwoody High School Path – Feedback Requested by 9/3

From the City of Dunwoody

Vermack Road Path from Vanderlyn Drive to Womack Road

The City of Dunwoody strives for enhanced community connectivity, which includes providing accessible sidewalks, accommodations for bicycles and safe routes to schools. The current sidewalk in front of Dunwoody High School on Vermack Road has utility poles for electrical transmission lines located within the walkway, and the sidewalk does not meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. It will be more cost effective to relocate the sidewalk than it will be to relocate the transmission line.

A new, wider path is proposed to accommodate groups of students walking and biking to both the high school and Vanderlyn Elementary School.

Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funding for this project has been included in the 2021 budget.

The city’s design consultant, Practical Design Partners, has developed a conceptual layout for the path on the east side of Vermack Road.  Click here to read more and submit feedback.
