Dunwoody Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The City of Dunwoody has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting every year since incorporation in 2008.

Dunwoody, GA – April 18, 2022 – For the 12th year in a row, the City of Dunwoody has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report. Considered the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, this achievement represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“I’m proud of the hard work of our finance team and grateful for the leadership of Finance Director Linda Nabers,” said Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton. “We’re committed to financial excellence and transparency for our taxpayers.”

Dunwoody has earned this recognition every year since incorporation. This year’s certificate is for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2020. Dunwoody’s comprehensive annual financial report can be accessed using this link.

According to GFOA, the comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

“We have buy-in from everyone on staff, and that makes all the difference,” Nabers explained. “Even as we worked through the financial uncertainties and impacts of COVID-19, we held ourselves to the highest standards and continue to do so.”

GFOA was founded in 1906 and represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada. The association’s more than 20,000 members are federal, state/provincial, and local finance officials deeply involved in planning, financing, and implementing thousands of governmental operations in each of their jurisdictions. GFOA’s mission is to advance excellence in public finance.
