The 9th annual Cars & ‘Q for the Cause, an award-winning car show and party hosted by Choate Construction to support the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), returns to Choate’s Sandy Springs headquarters on April 21st with even more fuel and fervor for a cystic fibrosis (CF) cure. The popular fundraising party, well known for its stellar cars, super BBQ, craft brews, and sweet music has caught the hearts of over 1,100 attendees, and last year raised over $325,000 for CF, the genetic lung disorder affecting about 30,000 in the U.S.
Cars & ‘Q for the Cause promises entertainment for all ages. The car show boasts a variety of beautiful prize-winning automobiles from classic sports cars to muscle, exotic, rare finds and bikes as well as continuous pours from Atlanta’s local craft breweries, mouthwatering BBQ by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, live music, a silent auction and some friendly car competition. The event’s 1,200 fans include car enthusiasts, the real estate community, young professionals and an army of volunteers, sponsors and advocates from the CF community.
Event founder Emily Bridges says the ever-growing event attracts both serious car enthusiasts to first-time car show attendees and a multitude of patrons who have heard about the fun-raising and passion for a CF cure. “Part of the appeal for CF events is that a cure is truly possible and could be uncovered in our lifetime,” said Bridges. “We won’t quit until CF stands for “Cure Found” and with the great progress in medications, we’re almost there. Our patrons feel that tremendous hope and excitement and are hooked.”
While most of the attendees and Choate employees do not have a personal connection to cystic fibrosis, they do know of or about 32-year-old Leann Rittenbaum, the original inspiration behind Choate’s CFF support.
Choate Chairman & CEO Millard Choate began supporting the CF cause more than 28 years ago when daughter Emily’s best friend, Leann Rittenbaum, was diagnosed with CF as a toddler. Now each Spring, Choate employees make fundraising a top priority through internal fundraising and Cars & ‘Q for the Cause as their signature community event. To date, Choate Construction is one of the nation’s top corporate fundraisers and plans to top $3 million in 2018.
“The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is providing the much-needed funding for research and drug development to help cure CF, and we are so thrilled that Cars & Q for the Cause can fuel that progress,” said Bridges.”
