Feeling like you want to spread some joy and do something for others during this time of uncertainty?

The service director in this community said, “Our families are having difficulties due to job layoffs or cutback on hours and the children being home.  Most of them work in the cleaning, restaurant, or construction industry.”

For some in a neighboring community, things are “not okay” with job loss and cutting back of hours.

We are hoping 100 Dunwoody/Chamblee/Brookhaven/Doraville/Sandy Springs families would be willing to sponsor 1 family for Easter. Right now we have about 50 committed! Can we pull together as share with those in need?

How? We are in a shelter in place situation?

Food delivery is an Essential Service.

What about safety?

We are working with the Mayor’s office and this is why drop-off protocols will be VERY important. You will sort and box the food for a family and place it in your trunk. You will follow a drive-through drop-off where a volunteer in gloves will get the food from your trunk. You will not get out of the car or park but drive through as directed by the dedicated staff under 10 to help in this process. There will be no contact with the volunteer taking the items from your trunk. This is why it is very important to have it sorted because we will have limited volunteers and none to spare to sort while we practice social distancing during the drop-off.

Where?

Church At Chapelhill Dunwoody Campus

5067 Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd (please follow the signs for where to enter and exit)

What is needed?

We are asking you to follow this list with no additions. You can certainly sponsor more than one family but please box the food per family as this will help with home delivery to the family receiving it in Doraville.

Here is a food list that would help one family in need: Please adhere to the guidelines of what is being requested (this community does not eat certain things like Baked Beans etc)

Our families are having difficulties due to job layoffs or cutback on hours and the children being home.  Most of them work in the cleaning, restaurant, or construction industry.

“Adopting a family” is a great way to help in a practical way during these uncertain times.

I want to help but I do not want to go shopping right now.
We do not want to ask you to do something you are not comfortable with. Some are ordering the food through Target and online or Amazon and having it delivered to themselves then bringing it to the church. Some are using a drive-through pick up at local grocery stores. Some are wanting to send in money to the community service director at CCM. If you are wanting to mail a donation for food and supplies you can do so at :
CCM
Our mailing address for contributions is:
CCM
5935 New Peachtree Rd
Doraville, GA 30340
Mark the donation as FOOD DRIVE/SUPPLIES for PEARL LANE COMMUNITY
*note this is a mailing address only not a place to drop items off

After the COVID crisis shelter in place, bans are lifted we will have a clothing drive as well so if you are cleaning out closets right and housewares and such we will be collecting those later this spring. So if you are not able to help with the food drive, keep this community in mind as you are spring cleaning and you can contact the organizer on how to drop off clothes and other supplies later this spring.
