Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The third annual Franklin Pond Chamber Music Competition Awards Concert on Sunday, May 26, 2019, 4 p.m. showcases Georgia’s most talented young classical musicians in a day of competition and performance. Over 30 pre-college instrumentalists in a variety of ensembles will compete for cash prizes and the chance to share the stage with some of the nations’ top professionals at the 4 p.m. Awards Concert.

James Dunham, former member of the Grammy Award-winning Cleveland Quartet and Professor of Viola at Rice University, is this year’s Competition judge and guest artist. Grand Prize winners from both the High School and Middle School categories will perform at the 4 p.m. Awards Concert, as will Dunham and the Franklin Pond Players, comprised of members of the Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

The annual day of competition is hosted by Franklin Pond Chamber Music, a non-profit that provides year-round chamber music instruction for talented string students. “The FPCM Competition gives students a goal to strive for, a reward for their dedication, and acclaim to go alongside their accomplishments,” said Ronda Respess, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra violinist and founder of Franklin Pond. “The Awards Concert gives audiences the chance to hear these exceptional young artists plus the rare opportunity to hear the nation’s top musicians in an intimate setting—all at a family-friendly price!”

Tickets to the 4 p.m. Awards Concert are $10 at the door or call ahead at 678-466-4200. Spivey Hall at Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd., Morrow 30260. Visit www.franklinpond.org for more information, or send your questions to competition@franklinpond.org.
