Flower Child in Sandy Springs is Wonderful and Delicious!

by Audra H. Anders for The Aha! Connection

I love flowers and healthy food so when I rode by the new Sandy Springs City Center and saw that a new restaurant called Flower Child was about to open I was intrigued.   My mom was visiting me last weekend so we headed over to check it out.    The beautiful patio with flower boxes galore and fantastic outdoor furniture was calling our names on a beautiful warm sunny afternoon.

We stepped inside to the cheerful and fun decor, perused the menu quickly and settled on our lunch choices.  Mama chose a $7 plate of Roasted Butternut Squash (black kale, toasted mulberry, maple chestnut vinaigrette) and Yuzu Brussels Sprouts (golden miso, thai basil).   My choice was a $12 “Flying Avocado” gluten free wrap with smoked turkey, gouda, romaine, tomato, avocado hummus.   We both devoured our lunches and felt happy and healthy while eating!

The drink choices are unique at Flower Child.   They serve Kombucha on tap, 3 flavors of iced tea, several Georgia beers, wine, and 2 seasonal lemonades.   Mama chose “honey, pear, vanilla, lemonade” and loved it.   I’m not as big a fan of sweet drinks so for my refreshment I chose the Japanese Mango Sencha Green tea.

You should definitely check it out.   It’s great for everyone but I especially love their attention to food allergies.  Here’s what their website has to say:  “We’re on a simple, soul-satisfying mission to spread positively delicious vibes and healthy food in Sandy Springs. Whether you’re craving a taste of our bowls, grains, greens and wraps or looking to refresh with our flavored lemonades, kombucha or organic wine and beer, we’re here to take you to a happy place. We make every last bite on the Flower Child menu from scratch, using farm-fresh ingredients from close to home. That’s our promise to you, whether you’re vegan, paleo, gluten-free or just hungry.”
