How to help kids in foster care

There are several ways people can help kids in foster care. This holiday season, there are 15,000 in foster care in the state of GA alone and they need our help.

  • Clark Howard does a huge work with his “Clark’s Christmas Kids” toy drive. He does this in partnership with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services Secret Santa project. This year, rather than exchanging presents with family, consider instead donating in their honor. Anyone can do this! https://dfcs.georgia.gov/secret-santa-program
  • And all through the year, DFACS has their own shoebox project going on for the kids – it helps with court hearings, doctor appointments, etc.
  • Another way people can help is by volunteering or donating to the Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell. That is great fun! Rachel holds a prom-a-palooza every spring for the high school girls to come get everything needed for prom (new dress, shoes, accessories + they get their hair and make-up done for FREE – all of it is FREE). http://www.fostercares.org/
