Junior/Senior Pranks are a Problem this week in Dunwoody

Note from Audra (mom of a DHS Junior): I’ll bring you to Auburn University with me to roll Toomer’s Corner some day. Please don’t roll my yard again….or put raw meat and sardines in my mailbox.  Or throw eggs and mustard on my son’s car.

From Dunwoody High School:

It has been brought to our attention that several of our DHS students have been vandalizing homes, cars, and mailboxes in the spirit of an old “Junior/Senior War” homecoming tradition that is not sanctioned by Dunwoody High School.

The Dunwoody Police Department has been notified and will be making special patrols through neighborhoods for the remainder of the week. Please remind your students that arrest records do not look good on college/job applications and also that mailboxes are considered federal property, and federal law (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1705) makes it a crime to vandalize them (or to injure, deface or destroy any mail deposited in them). Violators can be fined up to $250,000, or imprisoned for up to three years, for each act of vandalism.

Again, parents and students that have been impacted are concerned that these pranks have “gone too far” and have been encouraged to call 911 if they experience vandalism. We want to warn you that neighbors, students, parents, and the Dunwoody Police are on high alert for the remainder of the week.

Parents – please talk to your students about this matter before it is too late. Don’t let them ruin a fun week or anyone’s personal property. Let’s be good neighbors in our community and keep the pride in our Wildcat Pride!
