Local Dunwoody Cadette Girl Scout Troop Goes for Silver by Addressing Food Insecurity

Girl Scout Troop 13580 is working on their Silver Award and recently built a Little Food Pantry and recently placed it in its new home at the Solidarity Food Pantry. This troop, now just six 8th grade girls strong, has been together since Kindergarten and decided they wanted to work on their Silver Award together. After brainstorming multiple ideas, they landed on addressing the need of food insecurity. With the help of Home Depot donating all supplies and local Dunwoody builder, Mike Keable, overseeing the construction and painting, the Little Food Pantry came to life!

The girls also coordinated neighborhood canned food drives which allowed them to donate well over 750 cans of food to both stock their own Little Food Pantry as well as supply the Solidarity Food Pantry! Thanks to the support of so many Dunwoody families, the girls have provided a way for families needing food to have access to basic canned goods even when the Solidarity Food Pantry is closed.
