Lunch with Lauren: Cafe Sababa

by Lauren Townsend for The Aha! Connection

Let’s talk about Cafe Sababa. I’m not sure how I didn’t know about this little gem until my friend, Felicia, mentioned it. I’ve walked past it numerous times on the way to Simply Thai, another one of my Dunwoody favorites. Cafe Sababa offers Mediterranean and middle eastern dishes made fresh and super delicious. We sat outside and the service was informative and attentive. I ordered the sliced lamb sandwich with onions and harissa aioli and a side of hummus. The flavors and portion size was perfect. The pita bread for the sandwich was great, but I didn’t love it for the hummus, which is only a matter of preference. I usually like more of a flatter naan or vegetables. Peggy ordered the falafel pocket with tehina sauce and said it was also delicious. I love falafel and this was easily my second favorite falafel in Atlanta; crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside and also served with tehina sauce. Felicia joined us and was disappointed that they only offer the hummus with ground lamb at dinner because apparently, it is the BEST but her lamb platter looked so good. It was a full platter with sliced lamb, chopped salad, hummus and babaganoush…definitely on my list for my next visit as is that lamb hummus and the chicken shawarma.
