Lunch with Lauren: Crafthall Kitchen

by Lauren Townsend for The Aha! Connection

Crafthall Kitchen is open in Sandy Springs (the shopping center next to REI and Tiff’s Treats). It is  multiple restaurant concepts under one roof. Currently, the options are Fowl and Scratch, a gourmet fried chicken place; Bowl Cookhouse, nutritious ingredients…in a bowl; Urban Sammie, a globally inspired sandwich place; and Salt and Pfeffer, an all day brunch spot. Needless to say, it would be difficult not to find something to fit your mood. I was tempted by the chicken and waffles because, I love chicken and waffles, or the pub brisket sandwich. In an effort to no longer be shaped like a gummy bear, I opted for a Kingston bowl. This delicious bowl was filled with roasted pork, black forbidden rice, fresh greens, roasted sweet potatoes, corn, pineapple, pickled onions, jalapenos and citrus agave dressing. The flavors were well balanced, as were the textures and it kept me full all day. I also got a cheddar drop biscuit, which came with butter and honey and I would recommend both.

Before you go, you should know that they do not take cash and no one is going to greet you and take your order. You make a decision, and when you are ready, you place your order on an iPad and pay with a card. The expo gets all your food together, calls your name and troubleshoots any issues that may arise. I was pleased with my meal and efficiency and look forward to going back. It would be a great lunch spot for a group with varying tastes.
