Lunch with Lauren: NFA Burger

by Lauren Townsend for The Aha! Connection

I finally stopped into the Chevron on Chamblee Dunwoody to try NFA Burger. Despite the hype, I hadn’t made it in. Obviously I have no bias to it being in a gas station, more so that I’d heard that it’s busy all the time. For those who don’t know, NFA Burger is helmed by Dunwoody resident, Billy Kramer, who is well known for his burger pop-ups around Atlanta. Even on a rainy, February day, it was packed with people. Seating is limited to a few tables and counter seats. I ordered a classic double with pickles, cheese and sassy sauce along with some seasoned fries. It was really delicious. I wasn’t surprised, but delighted; great texture, not too greasy, bun texture was holding up (I hate a soggy bun). I would say, reminiscent of Whataburger but (they’ll probably rescind my birth certificate) better. What I also liked about NFA Burger is the sense of community that it has managed to carve out in such an unlikely location. I love that two people who have never met, randomly sat and got to know each other over their burgers. I love that I ran into a friend while I was eating and was able to turn my table over to two ladies waiting to catch up. NFA Burger is an opportunity to treat yourself to a truly delicious meal, but also support a great local business.
