Neighbors Helping Neighbors…Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Pantry

The needs continue and we’d love your support!! We are very excited to announce that we have received approval as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization!! And thanks to the generosity of our neighbors, here is what we have been able to accomplish since March 2020:
• We have served 3,778 shoppers and their families since we started March 27.
• Our food donors have allowed us to DAILY serve 350 cans of fruit, 275 cans of vegetables, 125 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 150 jars of pasta sauce and 200 boxes of pasta, 350 servings of cereal, 185 sources of protein, 1000’s of snacks and loads of bread products. We also supply personal items, cleaning supplies and cooking ingredients.
• Our financial donors have funded a bountiful produce section with poblanos, serranos, jalapenos, limes, apples, oranges, corn, zucchinis, tomatoes, tomatillos, strawberries, plantains, bananas, and various other produce, tripling in size since we began.
• It costs $2,000-2,500 a day to fund the pantry staples in addition to the food donations. We are able to buy wholesale from Sysco and, thanks to B’nai Torah, have been granted access to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
• The USDA and Bright from the Start selected us to facilitate breakfast and lunch service to area children ages 0-18.
• We have had several celebratory events at The Pantry – Easter Baskets for the children, Cinco de Mayo Celebration, a Mother’s Day Pop-Up Shopping opportunity for the kids, and are planning a year end games and books giveaway.

Starting June 1, we will move from our current location at Under the Cork Tree restaurant at the Prado to our new location right around the corner at Solidarity Plaza, 120 Northwoods Drive, Suite 115 (down from the Ice Arena off 285 at Roswell Road).

We have the hardest working, most generous, happiest, most giving, funnest and funniest group of volunteers of any organization. We still need more volunteers. We’re waiting for new social distancing standards to expand our program in the new location to maybe include pop-up “camps” for the kids. We are now open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 8-11 am.
