Patty’s Foodie Frenzy: M Five Seven Two – Downtown Tucker

M572 Downtown TuckerM/572 is a great addition to the new City of Tucker. For anyone who has never been to Tucker, you now have another reason to visit my hometown.  Most people go to Tucker for Matthews Cafeteria. I still laugh about the first time I met Audra’s husband Kirk, 20+ years ago, the first question he asked was “do you always go to Matthews?”

Across Main Street you now have another southern cooking restaurant that is completely different.  It is a comfortable modern farmhouse setting that would be nice with friends for lunch, date night or a special occasion.

The chef, Jon Allen worked with Kevin Rathbun at Rathbun’s and Krog Bar.  M/572 just opened this summer.

Snacks, Nibbles and Small Plates divide the menu into sections.  I love this approach that accommodates all size appetites.  Audra and I both enjoyed everything we ordered. I started with the Fried Green Tomatoes snack ($4).  They were perfectly seasoned and served with boiled peanuts.  The boiled peanuts were such an unexpected twist that pulled the dish together.  Audra snacked on Brie Stuffed Piquillo Peppers with white anchovies, toast, chickory, aioli citrus vinaigrette, red onion and olive ($4).  We shared the 572 Salad with mixed local lettuce, seasonal fruit, gorgonzola, boiled peanuts and buttermilk ranch ($9).  Once again, it was the perfect mix of fresh ingredients.  Audra had a delicious Chicken Salad ($10) and I loved my Lobster Po Boy ($14).  The menu has gluten free choices in each category.

I can’t wait to go back to M/572 since the menu will vary with the change of seasons.  Most dishes, beer and cocktails will be regional to the south.  I am so happy that M/572 has found a home on Main Street, Tucker.

Until we eat again,

Patty
