ROAM – What it is & how you can try it for free for a week!

by Audra H. Anders for The Aha! Connection

I thought about doing a poll to see who has heard of or noticed Roam Dunwoody in the Perimeter Pointe Shopping Center.   When driving around the shopping center parking lot corner past Dick’s Sporting Goods towards Home Goods and located above Office Depot…. I’ve always wondered what in the world it was.  My hubby is a Real Estate Broker, so he explained it to me one day and I got the gist.  However sometimes a picture (or a visit) is worth 1,000 words.  I must say, seeing is believing.  Recently the nice folks at Roam invited Peggy, Lauren, and me to visit.

The three of us were amazed at the decor…. it is gorgeous but also practical.  But wait, I guess you are still waiting to find out what Roam actually is!  Basically, it is a co-working space. The definition of co-working is when people assemble in a neutral space to work independently on different projects, or in groups on the same projects.  It is different than a typical office workspace because the people in a co-working environment are not usually working for the same company.   Generally, people who use co-working space are self-employed or working for different employers, and/or wanting to share equipment, ideas, and knowledge.

Enter COVID-19.  Co-working space is suddenly attractive when your corporate office is closed and you need to get out of the house, when you always work from home but now your teenagers and spouse are also at home and you need some peace and quiet to work.  Who’s to say that you couldn’t send your college students or high school students to a co-working space to get them out of the house and give them a place to work together and collaborate on projects.  I promise you…it is cheaper than private school tuition!

I’ve been pondering where to have my next book club event once COVID concerns are over.  I’ve also wished I had a conference table to invite clients for marketing collaboration.  I cannot tell you how many times I wondered about a nice quiet place to host a small Bible study or a team meeting.  Little did I know, Roam can handle any of these events and more.  I could go on and on and on about the look and feel of the space.  They have everything from cubbies with doors, to nooks with booths, to modern conference rooms, to cabin like conference rooms, to large meeting/teaching rooms, a coffee bar, mailboxes for members, funky fun lighting, etc.  The views of the King & Queen and North Park office buildings are gorgeous!  And this is just the Dunwoody location I’m referring to.  There are 5 other Atlanta locations including one on Hammond Drive nearby.

They also have an amazing partnership with Kefi ….a $715 value for $250.  What is KefiKefi is a modern family club designed for kids and parents.  Lauren has been with her kids and loved that her kids were safe, well attended, and having a blast…all while she was working in peace and quiet in a nearby room with the ability to monitor her kids on screen.

Have you ever wished you had a personal assistant?  Roam has partnered with Vava Virtual.  Delegate the to do’s + administrative hassle and stay focused on what’s most important – growing your business – by utilizing one of their partnership savings deals with Vava Virtual.

During our tour is when we learned about Safe Hands.  Roam’s partnership with Safe Hands provides wristbands to members for easier communication amidst Covid-19.

So, how much does it cost?  Find a list of all their offerings on their website.  Oh, and they also have a $100 spouse add-on special.  One membership gives you access to all 6 Roam locations.  Basic Membership is $139.  Their most popular is the Select Membership at $199.  The select offers 24/7 access and 15 room hours a month – perfect for booking out rooms for a book club or Bible study.

Our friends Patrick and Joseph at Roam would love to offer any Aha! subscribers a free week-long Roam Membership!  At the very least this gives you a week on them and you can get a feel for the space.  Give it a try so you can check out the concept of co-working!  You can schedule a tour and then ask for your free week or just email Patrick for the Dunwoody location or Joseph for the Perimeter Center location and ask for a free week.   All you need to do is mention you heard about this offer on The Aha! Connection.
