Solar eclipse to keep Atlanta, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton students after school

All four local school districts will be dismissing students late Aug. 21 because of a solar eclipse.

From about 1 to about 4 p.m., the moon will pass between the Earth and the sun, darkening the sky and turning afternoon into twilight. Metro Atlanta residents will not see a total eclipse this year, but a significant portion of the sun will be covered by the moon, especially between 2:32 and 2:39 p.m. Schools will use the late release as a special learning opportunity.  Continue reading at Neighbor Newspapers
