Stage Door Kicks off the New Year with a “Wilde” Time!

Stage Door Theatre is proud to announce their first show of 2022, The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde. Director Kelly Johnston set the show in Georgia during the 1920s “Wilde wrote several pointed and poignant plays in his storied career, but we’re happy to kick off the new year with a sparkling and hilarious ‘champagne comedy’. The true genius of the farce is not the pointed message some of Wilde’s other plays are known for, but the absurd relatability of Wilde’s opinions on triviality and class.” says Johnston. The Importance of Being Earnest also marks the start of the second half of Stage Door Theatre’s 48th season of live theatre for Dunwoody audiences.

Two wealthy Georgian bachelors each pretend to be a fictitious man called Earnest in order to win over two eligible young ladies, despite the ladies’ avowed preference for that name alone and the interference of the intimidatingly proper Mrs. Bracknell. A witty, fast-paced farce where pretending to be who you aren’t leads to being who you are.

Tickets are currently on sale for The Importance of Being Earnest, which has performances running from February 4th to 20th, and with shows selling out like they did for A Christmas Carol, it is advised not to wait. Starting with this show, the rest of the season will run three weeks of performances for its shows: Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:30pm.

Tickets are:

$35 for adults

$20 for students

$15 for kids.
