Students from Liberia paperwork complete….enrolling in Dunwoody Schools

From Dunwoody High School Principal Tom McFerrin:

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Two weeks ago, a family from Liberia, an Ebola affected nation, sought to enroll their two children in Dunwoody Elementary and Dunwoody High Schools.

Based on consultations with the District’s lead nurse, the DeKalb County Public Health Department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Georgia Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education, the District requested specified medical documents and verification of entry date into the United States to determine whether the students have been free of symptoms for the Ebola virus for more than the 21-day incubation period.

The requested documents, which included original stamped passports and medical documentation from the Emory (University) Wellness Travel Clinic and Northside Pediatrics, established the date of examination and medical clearance for the students.

These documents have been received and evaluated by the District and accepted by the Superintendent. The parents have been notified that they may enroll their children.

We are happy to welcome these new students to the DeKalb County School District and our school where they will be embraced, encouraged and supported.

Regards,

Tom McFerrin
