Book of the Week: Seamless by Angie Smith

Many of my friends are taking this study right now at DUMC.  I don’t have the time to attend on Wednesdays so decided to do the study on my own and am LOVING this book.   I’ve been able to find several of the accompanying videos online also.   So – if you’ve been looking for a good Bible study to do at your own pace, I’d highly recommend this one. … Read More »

Book of the Week: Crazy Rich Asians

One of my neighbors chose Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan for our Meadowlake book club.  I’m not sure I would have ever picked it up otherwise.   Truth be told…I started it last week and am now halfway through book TWO of the trilogy (China Rich Girlfriend).   I’m addicted to these characters.  They are absolutely hilarious and live in a world far different than I’ve ever imagined.  … Read More »

Book of the Week: Saints for All Occasions

Saints for All Occasions I haven’t read this book yet but when my avid reader friend texted me last night to say: “I haven’t loved a book this much since The Poisonwood Bible” I knew I had to download it ASAP.   I’ll be reading it next!

Amazon says this:  “A sweeping, unforgettable novel from The New York Times best-selling author of Maine, about the hope, sacrifice, and love between two sisters and the secret that drives them apart.”

Book of the Week: House Rules by Jodi Picoult

There are 132 miles between me and some of the people I love the most…..so I can be found cruising on Interstate 85 between Dunwoody and Lee County, Alabama quite frequently.  To pass the time (and to keep myself awake) I often listen to books on Audible or to Andy Stanley podcasts.  One day last week I drove down and back in the same day and forgot to download a new book onto Audible before leaving home. … Read More »

Book of the Week: The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children

My friend, Pamela, told me about this book and I’ve been reading and re-reading it all summer.   I used to think that once my kids were grown…and flown…that parenting would be finished.   I was oh.so.wrong!

Throughout this book the author (Stormie O’Martian) helps you pray with the power of God’s Word over your adult children and their:

  • career choices and sense of purpose
  • marriages and other vital relationships
  • parenting skills and leadership
  • struggles, addictions, or emotional trials
  • faith commitment and prayer life

It is comforting for me to believe in the power of God working through my prayers.… Read More »

Book of the Week: Grown & Flown

Note from Audra:  So I cheated.  This isn’t really a “BOOK” of the week.  However, it  is a publication that I “READ” almost every day and the topic is so timely that I knew I must share.  I’m taking my oldest back for his second year at Auburn tomorrow…our UGA friends are mostly all back in Athens and I have so many friends who are dropping their FIRST kids off at college this year. Read More »

Book of the Week: Every Single Secret

We are giving away our book of the week! So…my friend Christine met the author, Emily Carpenter, quite by accident recently in Roswell.   I just read her bio and realized not only does she live in nearby Roswell, but she also graduated from Auburn University like me!!!   Christine is an avid reader and was thrilled to be given an autographed copy  of her latest novel, Every Single Secret, to share with me for an Aha!… Read More »

Book of the week: The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper

Rather than reading this week, I’ve spent a lot of time hanging out with  my husband’s parents.   Both of them are avid readers and have book clubs of their own.  So…I asked Rosie (my mother-in-law) what she’s been reading and she told me that her friend Pat recommended The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick for a light summer read.  … Read More »

Books of the Week: Marriage Vacation & Younger

by Audra Anders for The Aha! Connection

Confession time….I’m hooked on the hit TV Series, Younger.  It isn’t my fault though.  I completely blame Ana Bilbao-Granadillo.  She’s an amazing Spanish teacher at Dunwoody High and we’ve both been told we look alike.  One day while discussing that we should pretend that she’s my YOUNGER sister, she starting raving about the TV Show, Younger.  … Read More »

Book of the Week and a Giveaway: All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

On June 28th, my friend Christine and I attended the book launch party for Emily Giffin’s latest book, All We Ever Wanted.  We accidentally ended up in great seats right behind the author’s family and close friends.  Her mom, a retired Illinois Librarian, was literally right in front of me.  It was such an interesting perspective to watch Giffin’s Mom, Daughter, and Husband beam with pride throughout the entire event.   … Read More »

Book of the Week: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

The Great Alone: A Novel

I know three families heading to Alaska for summer cruises this year.   I’m personally a warm weather vacation kind of gal and have never even considered wanting to go to Alaska….until now.  One of my Alaska bound girlfriends (Kristin) texted me last week that while reading this book she kept thinking how much I would love it.  … Read More »

Book of the Week: One Good Thing

I love Wendy Wax’s Ten Beach Road series and the colorful, delightful women who love the beach as much as I do! Interestingly enough, I’ve been to all of the places that Wendy writes about in these books… which makes it so much fun for me!  Plus, I’m the same age as one of the central characters (Maddie) and I just adore her.  … Read More »

Book of the Week: The Keeper of Lost Things

This is nothing short of a sweet and magical little gem of a book.   The characters are delightful.   My favorite is named Sunshine.  She has Downs Syndrome but declares to everyone that she is a “Dancing Drone”.  Everyone in this book has something lost and found and Anthony, the “keeper of lost things” helps them all and they in turn, end up helping reunite Anthony with his beloved Therese. … Read More »
