On August 24, residents of Dunwoody and Chamblee can recycle cleaning chemicals, paints, pesticides and more for free.
Dunwoody, GA – August 7, 2019 – The City of Dunwoody and City of Chamblee are partnering for a free household hazardous waste recycling event on Saturday, August 24 at Plaza Fiesta, 4166 Buford Highway Northeast. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“We’re actually holding two events with Chamblee,” said Dunwoody Community Development Director Richard McLeod. “The first is in Chamblee. The second will be on October 13 at the Georgia State University Dunwoody Campus. Both offer residents a great way to dispose of hazardous items safely. It’s an important initiative of our Sustainability Committee.”
Residents are required to pre-register. Dunwoody resident can register using this link: www.dunwoodyga.gov/wasterecycling. Chamblee residents can register using this link: https://hazardouswaste-chamblee2019.eventbrite.com. They’ll need to bring proof of residency to the event. Disposal is limited to residential quantities.
“City officials identified this opportunity to partner with the City of Dunwoody to make the event more environmentally and economically efficient and offer multiple events for our neighboring residents to recycle their household hazardous wastes,” said Rebecca Keefer, Chamblee Planning and Development Special Projects Manager. “We’re happy to come together to provide these services in one big event. This way, items that are toxic, flammable, reactive or corrosive don’t enter our environment and damage soil, groundwater and streams or cause harm to people and animals.”

- Adhesives, resins and epoxies
- Mercury debris/articles/devices
- Lawn Care products
- Automotive products
- Poisons (rat, rodent, insect repellents)
