The Ginger Room

by Lauren Townsend for The Aha! Connection

Adorable! You just have to go to The Ginger Room. Treat yourself and your friends to an afternoon tea or lunch experience. And it is an experience; Sitting in one of Alpharetta’s oldest (and cutest) homes, with mix-n-match teacups and saucers and a tower of tea-time treats. I called and made reservations for afternoon tea, so what you see pictured is just that. Cucumber, egg salad, smoked salmon, coronation chicken, and avocado sandwiches; fresh scones with handmade clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam; petit fours, cookies, macarons, and truffles. I really don’t need to write much more because I’m pretty sure you are already calling to get a reservation before the kids get out of school for the summer.

All that food was so great and filling, but equally as delightful, is the tea knowledge and selection. Since we had afternoon tea for three, we got to choose three pots of tea. We unwittingly chose three very different teas, but all were tasty and paired well with different parts of our lunch. All three pots were finished to the last drop. If you can’t make reservations, they also offer a variety of desserts and savory items that vary daily, for example, Quiche Lorraine, Roswell Quiche, Pimento Cheese Sandwich, Cucumber Dill Sandwich, Classic Egg & Watercress Salad Sandwich, Smoked Salmon & Chive Cream Cheese Sandwich, Turkey & Gouda Croissant Beef & Cheddar Croissant and a Charcuterie Board.

The Ginger Room prides itself on offering locally sourced food, teas, coffee, bakers, and artisans. The owners are beyond lovely and knowledgeable. They are the founders of Ginger Yums, which is an all-natural ginger juice, which is also offered at the Ginger Room. We were lucky enough to try some and then, low and behold, I was able to buy a giant jar of Ginger Yums ginger pineapple juice at the Dunwoody Farmer’s Market.

The whole experience was such a treat. I want you to go. I want to go back again and again. It was a great way to celebrate my friend, Lauren’s birthday, but also just a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The Ginger Room really is such a gem in Alpharetta.
