Travel Tuesday with Danielle ~ Jackson Hole: A perfect family summer vacation!

by Danielle Garrett of PlanIt Itineraries for The Aha! Connection

In light of how exhausting this election year has been, I decided that today’s Travel Tuesday needed to focus on a fun and beautiful destination that would make for a wonderful summer vacation.  Going out west this past summer was hugely popular and there is no question that the same western vacation trend will continue next summer.  I highlighted Whitefish, MT many weeks ago as one of my favorite spots out west.  Another favorite and a great choice for any family vacation is JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING!

T.A.Moulton Barn located in Grand Teton National Park

Jackson Hole offers an abundance of outdoor activities for all ages.  It’s really a year-round destination with world class skiing in the winter, but the summer is truly amazing!  From whitewater rafting, fly fishing, biking, hiking, camping, swimming, wildlife spotting and 2 National Parks within easy driving distance (Grand Teton and Yellowstone).  Those 2 parks alone would keep you busy for several days!

The Grand Teton National Park is only 5 minutes from the town of Jackson Hole.  The Scenic Park Loop is 42 miles and takes about 1-2 hours.  The park also offers the most paved biking trails of any national park!

Yellowstone National Park is further from Jackson Hole, but still a day trip option.  It’s about 1.5 hours (give or take) from Jackson Hole.   If you only have one day, I recommend focusing on the Lower Loop as that is where most of the major sights are located.

TIP: Active military and their dependents get a free annual park pass, as well as anyone with a permanent disability.

The town of Jackson has a true western feel with lots of shops and great restaurants!  Accommodation options range from true camping to glamping, Airbnb independent options or rustic lodges to The Four Seasons!  There is something for any budget or travel style!

Please remember to travel responsibly, wear your mask and do not travel unnecessarily if you are elderly or immune-compromised!
