Troy’s Burger Corner: Big Al’s Butter Made Burgers

by Troy Anders for The Aha! Connection

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Obviously, I am limited to take out and delivery for the foreseeable future, so comments about service and restaurant ambiance will be at a minimum for a while. Reviews, however, won’t be as I’m back home and in desperate need of things to do. If you have any suggestions for new places to try, please let me know.

Recently I decided to give Big Al’s Butter Made Burgers off Peachtree street in Buckhead a try. The “butter-made” concept is what brought me in, but I was left a little disappointed. Apparently, a style originating in the Midwest, they cook all their burgers covered in their homemade churned butter. Sounds delicious, but I didn’t see much difference VS a regular patty. I got the “Smoke burger” which came with bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, cherry peppers, grilled onions, pickles, and big Al’s gourmet sauce. It wasn’t bad, but nothing to write home about either. My bun was extremely thin and falling apart, however the peppers and bacon were a nice addition and of good quality. To be honest, overall, just a lesser version of Village Burger.
