TWO SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED AT DUNWOODY HIGH

The families of Halle Scott and Maura Binkley are proud to announce that Scholarships in honor of their daughters have been awarded to two Dunwoody High School seniors.

Bella Allen is the recipient of the 2020 Halle Scott Memorial Scholarship at Dunwoody High School.  Bella will attend the University of Georgia in the fall majoring in Psychology and plans to apply to medical school.  This annual scholarship was started by Halle’s family in 2017, to honor her memory following Halle’s death in a tragic auto accident on April 27, 2016.  Halle was a sophomore at the University of Georgia.

Penelope Abellera is the winner of the 2020 Maura Binkley Memorial Scholarship, at Dunwoody High School.  Penelope plans to attend Georgia Tech in the fall majoring in International Affairs and Modern Languages. This annual scholarship is sponsored by Maura’s family to honor her memory and carry on her legacy at DHS in a meaningful way.  Maura lost her life on November 2, 2018, following an act of targeted violence against women at a yoga studio in Tallahassee.  She was a senior at Florida State University.

The Scott and Binkley families are forever united in the loving memory of their daughters.  Halle was Maura’s mentor and “big sister” on the Dunwoody High Cheerleading Squad.  They remained friends, both joining Tri Delta Sorority in college, Halle at UGA and Maura at Florida State University.
