Volunteers invited to join the #GreatDunwoodyCleanup

Registration is underway for this community-wide cleanup on October 16.

Dunwoody, GA – September 1, 2021 – The City of Dunwoody invites volunteers to participate in the #GreatDunwoodyCleanup on October 16. This is the second year for the event, which is designed to make it easy for individuals, families, neighbors, teams, or civic groups to help keep Dunwoody beautiful by picking up trash and clearing debris from storm drains.

“We started this last year as an alternative to our annual stream cleanup and had such strong participation that we wanted to do it again,” said Dunwoody Stormwater Manager Carl Thomas. “The #GreatDunwoodyCleanup gives everyone in the community a role to play in protecting our environment.”

Individual participants and groups are encouraged to do the following:

  • Choose a spot in Dunwoody. It can be a street, stream, neighborhood common area, or wooded area.
  • Fill out an online form to share their plans with Dunwoody’s stormwater team.
  • Post photos of their progress on Oct. 16 using the hashtag #GreatDunwoodyCleanup

“We can have a greater impact when people across the city join in,” Thomas added. “We encourage you to grab gloves and buckets or bags from home before setting off to make a difference.”

This is a rain or shine event that will last from sunrise to sundown. Community service verification is available upon request. Details are included in the online signup form.
