What do you want to know about the Dunwoody political candidates?

What questions do you have about the Dunwoody political candidates?   What’s most important to you?  Schools, restaurants, transportation…something else entirely?

Over here at The Aha! Connection we typically don’t get involved in politics…local or otherwise.   However, each year as the voting date approaches, candidates will reach out to me asking to pay for an advertisement in our publications.   I’ve always declined.   Nothing has changed this year and I’ve continued to decline these advertising opportunities.  However, I am considering creating a one time special Election Guide email that would be separate from our regular content.  This way those people who don’t care to read it can just delete it and don’t have to worry about missing any of our typical content for the week. Local elections are typically non-partisan and effect all of us in our community.   This  year in particular, our local public schools have been in the spotlight due to gross overcrowding and redistricting discussions.   I haven’t gone one day in the last year without hearing someone complain about wanting “chef-driven” restaurants in Dunwoody.    All some people seem to care about is paving, parking, and speeding…..What do you care about?

So….would you be willing to email me or post a comment on our website or Facebook to give me questions for the candidates?  If so, I will take the top questions to the candidates and see if they’d like to participate in a special Aha! Connection Election guide.

Meanwhile, Advanced voting for the City of Dunwoody General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5 will begin on Monday, Oct. 14.

Even though the 14th is Columbus Day, advanced voting locations, including the Dunwoody Library, will be open. Advanced voting runs during weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 1. There will be no advanced voting on Saturdays or Sundays for this election. Four positions are on the ballot: Mayor and three at-large members of City Council. Voters in any district can cast a ballot for these citywide positions. All city elections in Dunwoody are nonpartisan.

  1. I would like to know each candidate’s absolute #1 priority for Dunwoody if he or she is elected. Everyone knows DCSD is messed up so let’s take that off the table. Will they put their brawn behind that one thing and make it a priority.

  2. How are you going to take care of the school overcrowding situation? Can we expect the model of city schools of Decatur, since DCSD only has trailers in mind? Our taxes should be allocated to that end, the current situation is intolerable

  3. We are all aware Dunwoody is poised for tremendous growth. How can we continue to manage the growth with the increased strain on roads, schools, sewage, etc.

  4. Hi- thanks for asking!
I want to know how the candidates are Different. They all are nice. They all want to put Dunwoody first.
Schools- they can make us known, but that’s not really in their hands, so they shouldn’t act like it is.
Improvements (what would they be under your leadership) and how do you plan to pay for that?
    Thanks so much!
    Cindy H

  5. Please no lip service on issues the Mayor and Council have no direct control over: Schools, Ambulance service, GA DOT Express lanes, redevelopment of Dunwoody Village Commercial area.
Who will change spending priorities away from giving the Police Dept. nearly everything they want and speeding up the 20 year paving plan set by the first city council?
Which candidates will spend significantly more on Parks and Arts and Culture: Community events and concerts as requested by citizens in the recent Arts and Culture study paid for by the City?

    Thanks

    Bill
