White jeans WIN! Plus, Fall Nail Polish Winners and Mixed-Media Sweatshirts!

AHA_StyleMoment_Logo2Hello Stylish Readers!  The “White Jean Survey” made my week!  The comments were hysterical.  One reader commented that wearing white after Labor Day might make her mother “blush with embarrassment”, I think that was my favorite!  Okay so the votes are in and the the “YES YOU CAN” won by a landslide.  Most readers think we need to throw out the old rules and wear white all year, however, a few readers think we should stick to the old rules.   My thoughts are that we can wear white jeans after Labor Day, BUT it must have a transitional look to complement the season.  For example, no floral tank tops with white after Labor Day.  I have seen some really sporty looks around town with white jeans this week, especially with brown or black tops and more transitional shoes.

Okay, so on to nail polish.  I had lots of testers this time and got a ton of feedback on the different colors!  The runaway winner is actually a tie!  These two colors are so similar that I have one on my toes and one on my nails and I cannot tell the difference!  They are “For the Twill of It” by Essie and “Peace Love and OPI”, by OPI.  They are so versatile!  They are iridescent and change colors in different lights between grey, green and lavender.  One tester described it as a “mermaids tail”, and that is such a good description of it!  Go try them for sure!!!  Honorable mentions include: “Vested Interest“, by Essie (looks like a greenish fall sweater) and “Shag” by Butter London (a shimmery copper brown).  Butter London “Muggins” is a great look for the office environment.  It is a update on a classic light pink with a fall twist.

A few fashion notes……  There does not seem to be a huge trend this year, but one thing that I am into is the mixed media sweatshirts.    Some have quilting, sequins, leather, lace or even studding, they are a cool twist on a comfortable look, check them out.  I think I am going to recycle some tops from last year and spend the money on getting some new low booties.  There are so many beautiful shoes out there right now and I cannot wait to try some on!

Ready, Set, Fall!!!!!  (and don’t forget to get your nails done!)
