30 Years of Magic: The Butterflies are Back at the Dunwoody Nature Center

Step into a world of fluttering colors and delicate beauty at the Dunwoody Nature Center for Butterfly Weekend 2023!

For 30 years, the Dunwoody Nature Center has hosted the Butterfly Experience: a two day event filled with activities and interactions to entertain visitors of all ages. Over the weekend of September 9 & 10, 2023, the Experience will be back with more to do than ever before. The highlight of the Experience are three butterfly tents set up in the beauty of the Nature Center’s forest, offering guests an up-close interaction with hundreds of native butterflies.

Guests of the Butterfly Experience will enjoy the Pollinator Pathway – a winding path of arts, crafts, and activities; education stations featuring partner organizations from all around the Atlanta area; and various exhibits showcasing different pollinators from all over the world.

The Experience will also feature hours of entertainment each day: a magic show from Atlanta favorite C. Magic Happen; live music from Mr. Greg’s Musical Madness, Atlanta’s wildest band Seed & Feed Marching Abominable, and other local performers; live animal shows and intimate interactions from Mr. Jim’s Party Animals and Nature’s Echo; and more! Food and drinks will be available for purchase, as well as other festival favorites such as face painting and tie dye.

On Friday, September 8, 2023, Butterfly Weekend will kick off with an event for adults 21+: Butterflies & Brews! Guests will enjoy a delightful evening that combines the enchantment of butterflies with other activities designed to make you feel like a kid again – from live music from Run, Katie, Run to playing a rousing game of cornhole. Enjoy the late summer evening with a cold brew and a locally sourced picnic dinner.

Each ticket to Butterflies & Brews includes two drinks, a delicious picnic meal, and unlimited access to the butterfly tents. This is the perfect way for adults to enjoy the magic and beauty of the butterflies, without the busyness of the family-friendly festival. This event only comes around once a year, so don’t miss out!
