It is with great pride that we share with you that on Monday, Ms. Williams was notified that Chesnut has been approved as an AdvancED STEM Certified School!
Thank you to our entire faculty and staff (with special recognition to our STEM Leaders: Julie Austin, Stacia Brown, Tiffany Denson, April Givens, Leah Little, Kaffy Radford, Jasmine Sadler and Xaviera Tate), our industry and community partners, our students, and you, our families, for your dedication to this process that has taken more than two-and-a-half years.
As detailed in Ms. Williams letter last month titled “An Update on Chesnut’s Road to STEM Certification,” AdvancED STEM certification is internationally regarded as a level of distinction that prepares students for future careers by promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics curricular disciplines. As an AdvancED STEM Certified School, Chesnut will benefit from research-based approaches to instruction that align with continuous improvement, authentic assessments and rigor in the classroom. We will follow standards and practices with clear expectations for student outcomes and mastery of 21st century skills, all while following a road-map to continuously improve our STEM program.
