When I mentioned last week that Tim Tebow coming to Passion City Church was one of my top three fave things about the Super Bowl coming to town, I had no idea how many people would notice and reach out to me. I saw SEVERAL people I knew at the 9:15 AM Sunday service and countless others have contacted me to ask how it was. So….for those of you who are interested….here’s my take.
First let me say that the process of getting there, parking, standing in line, getting a seat and then the reverse for getting back home is a time consuming ordeal. But, it was worth it.
This card was in everyone’s seat.
Passion City Church started the #ENDITMOVEMENT many years ago. Trey Burton, of the Chicago Bears was about six rows in front of me and apparently he and Tim Tebow are very active for this cause. See Trey’s video here. I saw the slave trailer in this video when the Final Four came to Atlanta a few years ago and was chilled to the bone. Find out more about this movement here.
Sitting near Trey was Tebow’s fiance Demi-Leigh Nel Peters and as most Miss Universe’s are….she’s gorgeous…..apparently inside and out.
The Passion City Church band, led by Kristian Stanfill are simply amazing. I love contemporary Christian music and am covered in goosebumps every time I hear them live. Sunday was no exception.
There was much hoopla about Tim’s phenomenal charity “Night to Shine” and announcements that there are still spots left for this upcoming Saturday night’s “Night to Shine at Passion City Church“. So if you know anyone who may be interested in attending click here. Finally, after an inspiring introduction by Pastor Louie Giglio, Tim Tebow took the stage. I was expecting a motivating speech with a few funny anecdotes but instead heard a full fledged scripture filled sermon from a talented preacher!
He focused on Hebrews 12:1-3 with plenty of interesting and relevant sports anecdotes. Supposedly some time today Passion Church will release the video of the sermon and you should be able to watch it here. One tidbit that I remember and have thought about many times since Sunday, is Tebow’s advice based on the scripture reading: “If we FIX our eyes upon Jesus, He will FIX our hearts”
Finally, he wasn’t promoting his book or movie but I thought Tebow fans should know that he is producing an upcoming movie (Run the Race) that comes to theaters on February 22nd. He also has a new book out, This Is the Day: Reclaim Your Dream. Ignite Your Passion. Live Your Purpose. My die hard Auburn fan (Gator hating) boys read his first book, Through My Eyes, and immediately became Tebow fans. Me too.
