Class dismissed after ex-employee makes threat to Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School

ATLANTA – Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School has dismissed classes for the Wednesday after an hour-long lockdown.

Sandy Springs police responded to the school, located on Mount Vernon Hwy., Wednesday morning.  

According to the school, the school went into a lockdown at 9:45 a.m. at the direction of the head of the school, based upon information of a possible threat.

Channel 2 Action News learned a school employee was let go Wednesday, and make some kind of threat to the school before leaving campus, the school’s communication director said.

The school’s communications director told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik the teacher had been sending inappropriate texts to former students. School administrators told the teacher to take a leave of absence to figure things out Wednesday.

The teacher left the school and the school had someone follow him. He went to a Bass Pro Shop and purchased a gun and ammunition and was driving back to the city when police intercepted and detained him.

The teacher has not been charged with anything at this point, the school’s communications director said. See video and read more at WSB
