Cooking in Ms. Patmore’s Kitchen- a la Vino Venue

My husband and I finally had the chance to attend the Vino Venue cooking class I won in the summer at your book club and I wanted to give you a little summary of how they do such classes. Below was the menu for the evening:

Downton Abbey! Come Cook in Ms. Patmore’s Kitchen!

  • Buttery Crab Canapes
  • Creamy Smoked Onion Bisque
  • Classic Beef Welly, Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Potatoes Lyonnaise
  • The infamous Apple Charlotte

When we first arrived we were offered a red or white wine and some appetizers (cheeses, figs, olives, nuts). The table was beautifully set for five individuals (it was us and three other ladies). Each person had an apron and we were ready to start.  Chef Jess told us a bit about Vino Venue and her background as a chef. She then described what we will be cooking that evening and then put us to work. Each person had a cutting board and a knife. Chef Jess assigned each person something to do as the evening went on. Someone would cut onions, someone would saute, and so on.

At the end, we were able to sit down and be served the meal we prepared. During dinner Vino Venue staff paired wines with each of our courses. Everything was delicious and not very diet friendly. Those English so liked themselves some butter 🙂 Attached are a few pictures from that evening.

Thanks so much, I am really glad I had a chance to win this.
